6. Customer Relations Skills Needed To Build Business Profitability

This article covers the first three of these skills. Part 2 will cover the last three.
Financial Skills To Build Business Profitability
Although you can outsource your accounting and hire a bookkeeper, you still must closely monitor your business finances. There us no such thing as autopilot profits, at least not in a new business.
This requires that you be able to read and understand a profit and loss statement, understand a financial statement analysis, know the difference between net and gross profit, and use business credit wisely.
You must know what’s required to get small business loans, and how to build a cash flow business so you can make the payments on your loans.
You need to be smart enough to carry business insurance to protect your small business resources. And you should consider the effect that profit sharing plans will have on your employees’ motivation to drive business profit.
Idea Generation Skills To Build Business Profitability
As a small business owner, you are the idea man or woman in your business. When starting your own business, you are the one that has to shift through small business opportunities to determine the most profitable business ideas.
Plus it’s your ideas that will that will determine the effectiveness of your planning, marketing and customer relationships.
Most people starting a small business have no shortage of ideas. It’s the implementation of those ideas that’s hard.
Planning Skills To Build Business Profitability
Implementation first requires business planning. Then it requires working the plan.
When planning your business growth, you need to get business advice from others who have already succeeded in a similar business. The Small Business Administration’s SCORE program provides free mentoring and coaching by established and retired business owners. So don’t be timid about asking for advice both during and after you’ve completed your business plan.
Some business owners think that the only reason to create a business plan is to apply for a business loan. They are wrong.
Business plans outline the best business strategies to achieve business growth. They include financial projections that when followed lead to business profitability. They plan marketing campaigns, and outline customer service policies. They establish management and employees procedures and outline business processes.
In short, a business plan prepares you for managing your new business to achieve business profitability.
