Examples Of Cause Related Marketing 1

Example of Cause Related Marketing
Shoes And Clothing For The Needy

A shoe store owner can collaborate with its local shelter that temporarily houses abused women and their children. Once a year the store can run a special where it offers a discount on new shoes if the customer returns a pair of good condition used women’s and children’s shoes.

The shoes are donated to the shelter so the women and children benefit. The shoe store can sell additional shoes during this promotion so the store benefits.

This idea will also work with a clothing store. Women in the shelter are sometimes unemployed and don’t have appropriate work clothing. So getting good-condition work clothing is necessary for them to find employment. It benefits them, and getting the extra sales benefits the clothing store.

Coupons For Organization Fund Raisers

Another way that retail stores can collaborate with non-profit organizations is to provide them with coupons to use in their fund raising. If several stores in a town all contribute coupons for a
nonprofit organization to sell, the coupons have value. The nonprofit makes money and so do the stores. And the coupon purchasers save money.

Whether the coupons are for percentage of products purchased in the stores, or even for a set amount of money off products, the stores make money because it gets more people in the stores. Most people will spend more than the set amount on a coupon. I always do.

And of course if the coupon is for a percentage of a one-time purchase, the more the customer buys at that time, the more valuable the coupon is to the customer. So the store may make even more. The percentage off should be at least as good as a good sale, but it only applies to the people with coupons and covers anything in the store. That way the store and the customer both benefit.

If you decide to use the coupon example, be sure to establish an expiration date and post it on the coupon. When several stores are participating together on this type of promotion, it’s best if all the expiration dates are similar.

These examples of cause related marketing boost sales for retail stores, but variations can stimulate other types of businesses too.
