If you’re interested in increasing traffic by Google analytics, use it to determine keywords that you can add to your site.

This is the second post of a three part series on using Google analytics. The first one covered using Google analytics to reveal which pages or posts aren’t indexed.

Today’s post provides additional information about:

Increasing Traffic
By Google Analytics
With Keywords

Google analytics reveals keywords and phrases that Google uses to send searchers to your site. Most of these will be key words that you’ve optimized for search results, but some will not.

For example, when I analyzed my September searches, I found that a third of the keywords that sent traffic to a post differed from the keyword phrase that I optimized for that post.

I’ve done a five-part series using the keyword phrase “modern advertising appeals.” I’m getting traffic to that series from a number of other keyword phrases, including:

  • advertising methods television
  • new advertising methods on tv
  • newspaper advertising roi
  • newspaper advertising rss
  • radio market segment

The problem is that the bounce rate for these keywords is high. It does no good to get a visitor that immediately clicks away. So one way of increasing traffic by Google analytics is to determine what keywords are bringing you visitors and becoming more relevant to those keywords.

If the keywords get little traffic, the most efficient way to do this is by making the page more relevant to the additional keywords.

But if a keyword service like Nichbot, or a keyword program like Market Samurai another keyword tool indicates that a keyword attracts a lot of traffic, your page is probably low in the search results. So you’re getting little traffic with that keyword.

By writing a separate page specifically for that keyword and optimizing for it, you can improve your search ranking, further increasing traffic by Google analytics.
