Page Rank Improvement Was Illusive In March ’09
Posted by Linda in Internet Marketing, tags: page rank improvementPage rank improvement was illusive in March ’09, with only 11 percent of the 170 dofollow blogs improving. So I thought you’d find it interesting to look at those blogs showing page rank improvement between January and March ’09.
Page Rank Improvement
Blogs Compared Across Page Ranks
Only 16 blogs of the 170 dofollow blogs that I follow showed Page rank improvement. All but one of them improved by one point. Blogs with Page ranks of 1, 2 and 3, that improved by 1 point, represented 14 percent of all blogs with those Page ranks.
The two PR4 blogs and one PR6 blog represented six percent and three percent respectively for blogs with those Page ranks. None of the 25 PR5 blogs improved.
The blog improving by 3 points improved from PR1 to PR4, but it had a comparable loss in the January ’09 rankings.
Page Rank Improvement
Blogs Compared By Page Rank
When looking at those who improved one point by Page Rank, PR3s improved the most. Six (40%) of Page rank improvement blogs represent PR3s. The next greatest percentage (33%) of Page rank improvement blogs represent PR2s. The third greatest percentage (13%) of Page rank improvement blogs represent PR4s.
Both PR6 and PR1 blogs represent seven percent each of Page rank improvement blogs.

That’s pretty bad. Usualy a lot more blogs get PR update. Oh well, maybe they’ll be more lucky next month.

Hi Gry,
I can’t speak to months before October because that’s when I started keeping Page Rank change records. But I do plan to continue keeping this information with every Page Rank update. So by the end of the year, I’ll be able to tell you if these first two updates in 2009 are standard or not.
Thanks for visiting my blog and for leaving your comment.
Warmly,
Linda
I do get the feeling that Google isn’t particularly keen on blogs that allow DoFollow comments. Having said that though – one of my DoFollow blogs actually increased in PageRank from 3 to 4 (and that’s after switching to DoFollow) so there are exceptions. It’ll be interesting to see whether it will keep this higher PageRank when the next update comes around.

Hi Linda! Thanks for keeping track of this for us. I’m not a numbers person but I highly respect those that are since numbers speak loudly in many situations. Deb
Hi Debbie,
I like numbers and data, but if you collect enough, you can acquire loads of great information by running statistics on the data.
That’s what I want to do with this data. I believe it will be quite insightful.
Warmly,
Linda
Hi Mattress Maven,
I plan to start gathering information on comparable nofollow blogs so I can look for differences between their Page Ranks.
Until data and statistics show me a negative effect on Page Rank from being dofollow, I’ll treat this as myth.
Warmly,
Linda
